A slow descending modal bed in D Aeolian — warm pad, Rhodes, brushed drums and upright bass, all soft so your lines sit on top. Every etude is built to float over this loop. The chords are diatonic to D Aeolian, so your melts and sideslips have a calm, consonant cushion to be strange against — which is the whole point. Import to Cubase, loop it, and play slow.
